Palm Desert’s City Council unanimously adopted boundaries for the two districts on April 16, 2020 following extensive outreach to receive public input. The City agreed to general parameters to achieve CVRA compliance through the settlement, but the community was able to provide input to help the City Council define the districts’ final boundaries. This outreach included two community open houses and a total of five public hearings (some held virtually due to the coronavirus) with the opportunity for public comment.

January 15, 2020 - First Public Open House

February 12, 2020 - Second Public Open House

February 13, 2020 - First Public Hearing (without maps), City Council Chambers @ 4:00 pm.

February 27,  2020 - Second Public Hearing (without maps), City Council Chambers @ 4:00 pm.

February 28, 2020 - Deadline to Submit Maps for the March 12, 2020 Public Hearing

March 12, 2020 - Third Public Hearing (with maps), City Council Chambers @ 4:00 pm.

March 14, 2020: Deadline to Submit Maps for the March 26 Public Hearing

March 26, 2020 - Fourth Public Hearing (with maps, could include approval of final map), City Council Chambers @ 4:00 pm.

April 16, 2020 - Fifth Public Hearing (final map adopted), City Council Chambers @ 4:00 pm.

Through November 2020 - Voter Outreach and Education on New Election Format

November 3, 2020 - First Election Employing New Format
