The City of Palm Desert has been a leader in environmental policies for more than 25 years. Palm Desert’s “green” policies and programs have included the installation of drought-tolerant landscaping, the promotion of alternative transportation by encouraging the use of golf carts on public streets, environmentally responsible storm-water management, and creative waste diversion and recycling efforts. Most recently, Palm Desert has received national recognition for its work to encourage energy efficiency and promote renewable energy through its groundbreaking Set to Save partnership program and its pioneering Energy Independence financing program.

Palm Desert continues to be a leader in sustainability by adopting an Environmental Sustainability Plan, a Greenhouse Inventory Report, and established a Palm Desert Citizens’ Sustainability Committee.
