Residents Invited to Apply for Citizens' Sustainability Committee

Post Date:12/09/2010

The City of Palm Desert encourages residents interested in serving on the City’s Citizens’ Sustainability Committee to apply for nine openings on this new and important advisory body.

In February, the Palm Desert City Council approved the City’s Environmental Sustainability Plan and Greenhouse Gas Inventory to help ensure that the City’s resources continue to be conserved and managed effectively. The plan calls for the formation of a Citizens’ Sustainability Committee that will review proposals from City staff, offer comment, and help develop appropriate policies and actions to meet the plan’s goals.

Applicants should have a professional background and/or a strong personal interest in sustainability that could offer insight into actions brought forward for City Council review. The nine members will meet quarterly and should represent a variety of perspectives.
