Event Recognizes International Holocaust Remembrance Day
January 27 Ceremony Marks Liberation Anniversary
The Gerald R. Ford Chapter of Mensch Foundation International will hold its seventh annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony on Wednesday, January 27, at 3 p.m. at Palm Desert’s Civic Center Park.
In 2005, the United Nations General Assembly designated January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, an annual day set aside to remember the Holocaust’s many victims, celebrate those who survived, and remind the world to never forget what happened. The date of this year’s International Holocaust Remembrance will also mark the 71st Anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
The Palm Desert event will include a variety of speakers and musical performances. A remembrance walk from the park amphitheater to the nearby Palm Desert Holocaust Memorial will serve as a moving conclusion to the program.
Civic Center Park is located at Fred Waring Drive and San Pablo Avenue. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for the ceremony. For more information and to volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 760-416-3685.
