Free Concert Marks 9/11 Anniversary

Post Date:09/01/2010
Using the power of music to honor the courage of those who have fallen, reaffirm hope for peace, and celebrate life and universal humanity is the goal of the third-annual September Concert at Civic Center Park Amphitheater on Saturday, September 11.

Presented by the Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation, the approximately 90-minute concert will begin at 7:15 p.m. and feature professional artists from stage and screen as well as local musicians. The event, which will include Palm Desert fire and police department representatives, a color guard, and bagpipes, is one of many concerts occurring throughout our nation and the world on this date.

Last year, 10,000 volunteers and 15,000 performers helped organize nearly 200 September concerts across the globe in conjunction with the September Concert Foundation and Sister Cities International. The concerts debuted in 2002 on the first anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Attendees are encouraged to bring water, chairs, blankets, picnics, and a candle to light during the concert. Civic Center Park is located at Fred Waring Drive and San Pablo Avenue. For more information, please visit or call 760- 333-4629.
