Salton Sea Community Workshops
Public Invited to Learn About 10-Year Plan to Manage Troubled Resource
The public is invited to learn about a 10-year-plan to manage the Salton Sea during a series of community workshops held from June 13 through July 12 at locations throughout the region.
The nearest workshop to Palm Desert will be held on Wednesday, July 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Rancho Mirage Public Library, located at 71100 Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage.
The 10-Year Plan of the Salton Sea Management Program considers water management infrastructure, related habitat, dust suppression, and other measures that will help address dust emissions, rising salinity, and other challenges to health, the environment, and local economies.
Work on the Plan is being led by the California Natural Resources Agency in partnership with the California Department of Water Resources, Salton Sea Authority, California Department of Fish & Wildlife, Imperial Irrigation District, and other federal, state, and local stakeholders.
