Free Guided Public Art Tour

The City of Palm Desert’s next free monthly docent-guided public art tour on Saturday, May 10, from 10 to 11 a.m., features the art at the Palm Desert Public Library. Meet at the Library entrance at 73-300 Fred Waring Drive.  Information: 568-5240

2008 Music & Movie Madness Debuts

Nine weeks of free, fun flicks and cool concerts begin this month with a screening of “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” at sunset on Thursday, May 8, at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park Amphitheater.

The popular film starring Jim Carrey kicks off the new series, which continues every Thursday night through June 26 at Civic Center Park. The series’ grand finale takes place on Friday, July 4, with a concert by Steve Madaio and Friends followed by a patriotic fireworks display.

Concerts start at 7:30 p.m. Movie nights begin at 6:30 p.m. with YMCA organized activities and giveaways courtesy of KDES-FM radio and Mattel, followed by cartoons and the feature presentation at sunset.
